Cycling in the UK – how can we increase participation and make cyclists safer?
The public health benefits associated with getting more people to cycle for short journeys, and for recreational purposes, are well documented.
However, cyclists are correctly classified as ‘vulnerable road users’, and invariably come off worst if involved in a collision with a motorised vehicle.
This conference will challenge all the key stakeholders among the cycling fraternity to outline what they are doing to encourage more people to cycle, while at the same time improving the safety of cyclists. They will also be invited to spell out the role they think road safety practitioners can play in achieving the same goals.
